About coCompounding

coCompounding is a place to study stocks and portfolios through their valuation metrics.

  • The home page is the S&P 500 (SPY): its holdings-weighted metrics, their charts over time, and every company's contribution.
  • Portfolios hold your own weights in any stocks, and show the same metrics, charts and contributions for them.
  • Timelines follow a portfolio through time: a beginning, then rebalances on the dates you choose, with the weights drifting with prices in between.

Market data is updated once a day; there are no real-time prices.

This is a beta

coCompounding is a beta application, and you are free to play around with it in any way you want.

BUT THE DATA IS COMPLETELY FAKE AND YOU SHOULD NOT USE IT FOR INVESTMENT DECISIONS UNLESS YOU ARE INSANE OR FEELING VERY LUCKY.

The only securities in the app are:

  • two ETFs: SPY (SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust) and SCHD (Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF);
  • the companies those two ETFs hold — nothing else, so a stock outside them cannot be searched for or added to a portfolio.

Their prices, fundamentals, valuation metrics and ETF weights are all generated: they look like market data but are made up.

Feature requests, nitpicks, suggestions and complaints are all welcome: send them from your Account page.

Important news about the application will be added to this page.
